繊細な生地ラインを生かすために裏打ちにもこだわりました。柔らかな“しけ絹”と和紙を貼り合わせる技術をもつ富山県南砺市城端にある松井機業が裏打ちを手掛け、製本とフォルムの美しいケースは日本屈指の製本会社である渋谷文泉閣。
もちろん組版・製版・印刷は山田写真製版所。プリンティングディレクター故・熊倉桂三氏の愛弟子、黒田典孝氏がその遺志を注ぎ、巻頭のグラビア頁は原書では再現しきれなかったオペラの舞台の深い黒と、光輝くアンジェラの美しさを見事に再現させました。
特装版は、限定10冊しか作られない貴重なものであり、それぞれにシリアルナンバーと佐野美幸さんの落款が付されています。
そして、アンジェラは、この本のために直筆サインを入れた舞台写真（アドリアーナ・ルクヴルール役、ロイヤル・オペラ・ハウス、2010年。ニール・ガレスピー撮影。ワイド６つ切サイズ１枚）を提供してくれました。

“A Life for Art” is the autobiography of world-renowned soprano Angela Gheorghiu. The book tells the story of Angela's life, from her upbringing and spectacular career in opera to her love life and family relationships. The book was translated and published to coincide with her Japan tour (June 2023 in Tokyo and Nagoya).
The book's beautifully designed special edition combines Japanese and Western styles with the cloth cover wrapped in textile artist Miyuki Sano's signature fabric, "Akane Sasu".
The fabric was produced on a traditional loom with delicate lines and random patterns, so no two copies are alike. The book will be uniquely yours, like the book title “A Life for Art".
We also paid particular attention to the fabric backing to bring out its delicate lines. Matsui Kigyo in Nanto City of Toyama Prefecture has a technique for bonding soft "shike silk" and Japanese paper and handled the backing. Shibuya Bunsenkaku, one of Japan's best bookbinding companies, took charge of the binding and making a beautiful bookcase.
Typesetting, plate-making, and printing were done by Yamada Photo Process Co., Ltd. Noritaka Kuroda, a favorite pupil of the late printing director Keizo Kumakura, has continued his legacy and beautifully reproduced the luminous beauty of Angela on the deep black opera stage in the photogravure pages at the beginning of the book.
This rare special edition is limited to ten copies only, each with a serial number and Miyuki Sano's inscription. And Angela has autographed her stage photo for the book (as Adriana Lecouvreur, Royal Opera House, 2010. Photographed by Neil Gillespie. 8 x 12 inches). The special edition set includes this photo, a special edition book and a regular edition book with Angela's portrait on the jacket.

The memory of red never fades.
It becomes purer with each passing day.
The sun rising from the horizon, sunset, red dragonflies.
The horizon of the fragrant Akane color (madder red) accompanied by white.
The pure white threads made by silkworms are dyed red.
Warp and weft yarns are crossed and woven on the loom.
Weaving and designing proceed simultaneously in pursuit of color and form.

ソプラノ歌手。1965年、ルーマニアのアジュドに生まれる。
チプリアン・ポルムベスク音楽院（現ブカレスト国立音楽大学）卒。
1992年、ロイヤル・オペラ・ハウスで、モーツァルトの《ドン・ジョヴァンニ》のツェルリーナを歌って国際デビュー。
1993年、プッチーニ《ラ・ボエーム》のミミ役でニューヨーク・メトロポリタン歌劇場デビュー。
1994年、ロイヤル・オペラ・ハウスでショルティ指揮「椿姫」のヴィオレッタを歌い、国際的スターの地位を確固たるものとした。
圧倒的な歌唱力と存在感で、メトロポリタン歌劇場、ウィーン国立歌劇場、ロイヤル・オペラ・ハウスなど、世界中の歌劇場で活躍を続けている。

Angela Gheorghiu
Soprano singer. Born in Adjud, Romania, in 1965. Graduated from Ciprian Porumbescu Conservatory (the current National University of Music Bucharest).
In 1992, she made her international debut as Zerlina in Mozart's “Don Giovanni” at the Royal Opera House in London.
In 1993, she debuted at the New York Metropolitan Opera singing Mimi in Puccini's “La Bohème”. In 1994, she solidified her international star status with the role of Violetta in Verdi's "La Traviata" conducted by Sir Georg Solti at the Royal Opera House.
With her magnificent voice and dazzling stage presence, she continues to enchant many opera fans at the Metropolitan Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Royal Opera House, and other prestigious opera houses worldwide.
